Marion Bartoli may be retired, but she
is certainly staying in the spotlight since retiring from
tennis six months ago.
The reigning Wimbledon champion continues to keep an active
schedule that includes attending last month’s Australian Open.
While there, she supported her good friend Dominika
Cibulkova as the Slovakian reached her first ever
Grand Slam final. From there, it was on to Paris where Bartoli
received a special commemoration from tournament organizers at
the Open GDF SUEZ event for her on-court achievements.
Bartoli continued racking up the frequent flyer miles as she
flew to New York to attend last weekend’s Super Bowl. Not only
was Bartoli there to support the winning Seattle Seahawks, but
also to promote her new fashion line of designer “wings” that
are worn over shoe tops.

weekend.
On Monday, Bartoli kept up the fashion theme by traveling to
Bratislava where she was on hand for the launch of Dominika
Cibulkova’s own fashion line called “Domi”.
Bartoli’s stunning victory at Wimbledon followed by her abrupt
retirement a few weeks later in Cincinnati last summer has
prompted many to speculate the former French No. 1 might make a
comeback. But that doesn’t seem likely. Speaking in a pre-event webcast
last week in Paris, Bartoli told WTA’s Andrew Krasny that
mounting injuries at the start of the 2013 season took their
toll on her body. Though Bartoli said she was able to will
herself to victory at Wimbledon, she simply had nothing left
after her historic win.
Bartoli plans to move to New York and will likely do some
tennis television commentary in the near future.
